On the 48 from Noe to BART, sat amongst three middle-aged Mexican women discussing foodin tones that reminded me of my family. About how conscientious a friend of theirs was with her food diary, which is how she lost so much weight. About este tipo de pescado, lo feo pero que sabroso, se llama–como–salmon, si salmon! (that fish, it’s ugly, but so tasty, it’s called salmon, right?), and how good it is with beans and tortillas. About teeny little Bay shrimp and whether they would make good tamales. I had a hard time not grinning and giving away that I was eavesdropping.
