Fast Company and Food Safety News are reporting that the USDA has decided that it is too slow in its Environmental Impact Statements on proposed genetically modified crops–a problem that it has decided to solve by turning much of the responsibility for the EIS over to the companies proposing the crops. The announcement in the April 7 Federal Register is here. That link includes contact information for David Reinhold (david.reinhold@aphis.usda.gov), the person in charge of the new program, in case you’d like to let the USDA know what you think.
